About the Lodge
We fled New Zealand's largest city to live in paradise with Max our Hunterway cross dog on the shores of Houhora Harbour where we are ideally situated to cater for your Far North expeditions.
Houhora Lodge is purpose built for guests. The architect designed cedar home is set in three and a half acres and was built in 1997 and opened in December of that year. The beautiful airy pavilion has bi-fold doors to the east and west to fine views and amazing sunrises and sunsets. Original New Zealand art adorns the walls and during the cooler months an inviting open fire warms the room where you can relax, listen to music, watch Sky TV, read or enjoy easy conversation.

Two of our spacious guest rooms are on the northern wing and have their own entrances, ensuites ('with the best showers in the country' quoted one guest), TV, king-sized or twin beds, good views over Houhora Harbour and Mt Camel and are peaceful and quiet. The third room is upstairs in the west wing overlooking the duck pond and farmland. It has a balcony and private bathroom and is also peaceful and quiet. The beds have excellent quality freshly ironed cotton sheets. It is possible to add an extra single bed to the rooms. |

Food & Facilities
We like to feed you well with wholesome fresh country food. For breakfast we serve freshly squeezed juice, homemade bread, muesli, cereals, jams and our own honey. Plus bacon and eggs, hashbrowns, sausages or whatever else you fancy (if available).
Much of our food is from our nearly organic vegetable garden and orchard or locally produced. Our hens provide fresh eggs daily. Delicious cold pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil is an extra delight. We hand pick our own olives and press the oil ourselves. A real treat! Belissimo!. If you enjoy crusty pizza's cooked on a traditional wood fired Pizza oven and give us plenty of notice to fire up the oven, enjoy al fresco dining on the patio under the grape vine.
